31 Days of Running {Day 7} & an Annoucement

Well. I have some good news and some bad news. After 7 days of running, this series is coming to an end. That’s right folks. The bad news is I will not be continuing on in the 31 Days of challenge. The good news is… coming later. 🙂 At Halloween to be exact. So stay tuned. And don’t worry, I’ll still be here. I just can’t commit to running every day anymore. I hate to be so elusive, but I’ll be sharing the rest of the story soon enough.

But you can go ahead and put me down for 1.5 miles yesterday!

31 Days of Running {Day 6}

Day 6 was yesterday. I wasn’t feeling too hot. I actually took off most of the day from work to rest and try to feel better. Instead of going for a run, my husband and I went for a 1 mile walk when he got home. I figured this still counts since I typically run/walk anyway. Yay for resting and yay for trying to feel better!

31 Days of Running {Day 5}

My bestie and I went out for a couple of miles tonight. Our other friend forgot and made other plans. By the time we realized she wasn’t coming we didn’t really feel like being out that long. So 3 miles became 2. We did push it a little harder than we have been though, so that was an improvement.

I’m sure you’re starting to get used to my constant exhaustion, and therefore short evening posts, so I’ll wish you all a good night! It’s my bedtime!

31 Days of Running {Day 4}

Let’s be honest, shall we? I phoned yesterday in. I worked 11 hours again. I was tired. I had no friends there to motivate me. I also got some really great news. So I ran a half mile. That’s one lap around the block I live in. I figured something was better than nothing. Tonight my two running friends are coming by to do 3 miles so it all balances out in the end. And hopefully I won’t be too exhausted at the end of the day to write my #5 post.

31 Days of Running {Day 3}

11.5 hours at the office followed by a 1.25 mile run with my 2 best girl friends! Weee! I am still super tired though. I remember starting running always makes me exhausted, so I’m just muscling through it for now. Speaking of… I should be in bed! (Is this the official mark of being old – a 9pm bedtime?)

31 Days of Running {Day 2}

 

Today was exhausting in the most wonderful way!

I woke up feeling exhausted. Really, I felt like I hadn’t slept at all… and then someone hit me with a truck and gave me a sleeping pill. Ugh! Somehow we managed to get out the door on time and show up 30 minutes early for bible class. oops! Little dude did so well. He was a very independent boy. I think he’s getting more comfortable with the classes. Anyhow, after that I went and met my dad for service. It was family day and he came to visit. I’m not sure if this the first time he’s been to a Church of Christ, but it was his first time at our home church. It was really nice to have him there. After that we had a picnic outside with all the other families at church. There were games and fun and fellowship. Needless to say little dude was exhausted when we got home. D and I went ahead and had our weekly budget meeting and I finally got around to cutting his hair. A little after 5 we had to wake Braden up because he was STILL sleeping! Silly sleepy boy! So we got him all dressed and the tires on the stroller aired up. And then we headed out.

Like I said… exhausting.

It was really nice to run with the family again. It’s been a while since we did that. Derek and I did the 3 mile loop. I ran farther without stopping than I have in a while. It was a lot hotter than it has been and we did end up walking a good part of it. It’s still so nice to be out there with the family. Tomorrow BOTH of my running buddies are coming by in the evening. I’ve never ran with two other people! I’m excited though!

Anyway, day #2 was a total success! Only 29 more to go!

31 Days of Running {Day 1}

Day 1 was a… success!

Woo hoo! Only 30 days to go!

Do any of you have a good friend you run with? I’m lucky that I have two.

My best friend came over this afternoon to run with me. She’s just getting started as well, and it’s so nice to have her to run with. I love my silent runs by myself, but I also really appreciate the time I spend with her. It’s my girl time. My time to chit-chat and catch up and be silly (or crazy…). We run. We walk. We sweat. We bond.

I haven’t run with my other friend in a few weeks. Apparently, she thinks getting married and jetting off to Belize for her honeymoon is more important than running around the neighborhood with me! Ha! (Just kidding girl! Congratulations again!)

Anyway, our intent was to go out for 3 miles. They ended up running a little late so we cut it short. We had to get back before the roast was done! So we cut it to 2 miles. This is a route she hadn’t done before. We ran the first half mile and then took our first walking break. Well, we got to talking about budgeting (a dangerous topic for two accountants) and before I knew it we were home – without any more runs. Oh well. We did walk fast, and I’m sure getting out and doing something is better than nothing. What makes me laugh is that our pace was actually faster than when we typically run/walk. I guess without pushing ourselves to run we were able to walk faster for the duration. Interesting.

Anyway, that’s day #1. Of course, for running I think Saturdays are almost a cheat day. Tomorrow shouldn’t be a huge deal either. Day #3, aka Monday, will be the deciding day! Can I actually do this? Haha!

31 Days

So here is my thought process… are you ready for it? This is me being 100% honest!

Ooo! 31 days! This is what got me in to blogging and reading blogs! This is how i found to blogosphere! Oh wow! Have I been reading blogs for a year now? I guess I have! Neat! Anyway, 31 days! And we get to participate? Cool! What should I do? What do I need accountability on? That’s a good place to start. Let’s make a list, shall we?

31 days of…

  • prayer
  • running
  • cooking at home
  • purging (the house… silly people)
  • organizing the office
  • finishing projects
  • cleaning the house (for real… not just talking about it)
  • crafting with what I have
  • meaningful time with the family
  • giving
  • letter writing
  • being outside
  • ideas for 31 days series

See what I mean? So many ideas! And I want to do them all! But I’m not very good at committment or follow through. Oo! Add 31 days of following through on commitments to the list!

Here’s a random aside. I signed up for a 10k. I’ve never ran more than 3 miles. Ever. The 10k is in November. I HAVE to work at the running or it won’t happen. So how about, 31 days of running.

Do I really want to commit to this? Is this something you really want to read?

To answer those questions, yes. I want to commit to this and I need to. And do you really want to read this? No, probably not. But it will get me in the habit of coming back here and writing, and that can only be good for coming up with different content which has been difficult since the loss of my mother.

So here we go. Here’s my pledge to 31 days of running and posting about it.
